New Video + Review: SoundKnockDown – aka – SKD – What’s My Name
For a second listening to the hook, I wasn’t sure if I was back in ’99 listening to DMX’s “What’s My Name”, but I wasn’t, this is 2012 and the video is from SDK aka SoundKnockDown, then I watched the visuals and heard what he was rapping about and thought I was back in 1990 listening to Joey B. Ellis’s “Go For It”, again I was wrong. Either way for a first timer, he gets an A For Effort.
From SKD’s PR Team:
Whether you call it “fate” or “destiny” or “a calling,” the fact is that some people are born to create music. SKD has participated in various local and international talent shows, including O2 in the park , the New York Music festival , LA music Festival , and performing in different night clubs and venues in , UK USA and Nigeria.
SKD was born in Nigeria, he began entertaining and rapping when he was in primary school. He was heavily influenced by Kurtis Blow, 2Pac, Run dmc, public enemy, NWA, Nas and DMX. SKD soon began developing his own unique style of rapping, from an early age he entered and won local and national competitions, he made his first demo with his brother providing keyboard and sound engineering support.
SKD raps, sings, and has real passion for the Guitar. SKD has a very focused approach and ideas for his art, beginning the next chapter in a career that you have to have a lot of stamina to keep going, SKD filled with promise and possibility said I make money from what I do, there’s nothing wrong with that, but I love the music more.
