I’m Not On The Run- Maina, Chair, Pension Reform Task Team
THE Chairman of Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, has denied the allegation by the police that he refused to appear before the Senate committee on pension thereby declaring him wanted.
In a statement in Abuja Sunday, Maina described the claim by the police as an abuse of power in a democracy. He maintained that there was never a time the police invited him for questioning either verbally or written.
“I wish to let Nigerians know that the purported declaration by the police that I am wanted is coming to me by surprise. First of all, I am a law-abiding citizen of this nation who respects institutions and will not do anything, anytime to denigrate any constituted authority. However, I state equivocally that the said declaration by the police is definitely an abuse of power in a democracy.”
He said he had given the police authentic and useful addresses where any invitation for him to appear before them could be sent, noting that it was only after such invitation had been dishonoured that an order for his arrest could be employed.
